Public Sector Unions As Political Clubs
There isn’t anyone that doesn’t know that public sector unions are bankrupting nearly every major state and city in this country. What most people don’t know is how this happened.
Unless the American people figure it out, and quickly, bankruptcy is a foregone conclusion for California, New York, Massachusetts, Illinois, Michigan, perhaps New Jersey and any other state in this fair land whose budgets are busting due to extraordinary benefits provided to their government employees who are represented by public sector unions.
When I began practicing labor law 38 years ago 25% of the entire American workforce was represented by private sector unions. Today private sector unions represent only 6.9%, of the entire American workforce while public sector unions represent 30% of all public sector employees.
This is the result of 2 factors occurring simultaneously over the last 4 decades. During this period manufacturing, where private sector unions were concentrated, went to China and other low cost developing countries. At the same time the number of public sector employees increased in size exponentially and became the political force behind organized labor.
But here is the point that must be understood if we intend to avoid what is currently happening in Greece and will be happening very shortly to most of Europe. Public sector unions are not actually unions they are political clubs which support politicians through dues contributed by their members and 95% of such politicians are Socialist/Democrats. Socialist/Democrat politicians then pass legislation which increases wages and benefits to their public sector employees as payback.
There is only one way to stop this kleptocracy: Make contributions by public sector unions to political candidates unlawful. This will result in having Socialist/Democrat politicians return to representing the interests of the people that voted for them not the people who paid for them.
The Dark Heart of The American People
Filed under: Presidential Watch, Social Commentary, U.S. Economics
Why don’t we just accept the truth: President Barack Obama’s class-warfare campaign is as Marxist as you can get.
When President Obama raises the bloody flag of anti-business and infers corporate corruption inherent in the capitalist system he knows that he is reaching into the dark heart of the American people. From the inception of our government the American people have always harbored a sense that while the wealthy have produced the ability of our nation to provide ample food and material abundance far greater than any other nation on earth the wealthy can be arrogant, indifferent to our national values and at times even act in a manner inconsistent with our national interest. But the American people also know instinctively that to destroy the wealthy or to limit or restrain their power and influence will ultimately adversely redound to the preservation of the American people’s personal individual freedom. However ironically it is this tension that provides our nation its greatest advantage. But for a President of the United States to use this constructive tension for the sole purpose of promoting his political success is nothing less than demagoguery and nothing more than the tyrannical aspirations of a tin horn dictator.
Do we, as a people, the American people, have the political perspicacity, the moral fiber, the courage to look at Barack Hussein Obama in the face and call him out for who he is and for what he is doing? Our constitution has given us the ability, nay, the right to do just that on November 6, 2012. Go forth.
Joker’s Wild

In a recent interview with Shawn Hannity, Donald Trump informed viewers that if the Republican Party doesn’t nominate someone to his liking he will run as a third party candidate in the 2012 presidential election. The ultimate spoiled brat now becomes a spoiler.
Donald Trump, aka “The Donald” is a person with whom New Yorkers are quite familiar. For heaven’s sake his name in New York City is emblazoned on every building he has either built (very few) or to whom he has sold his name (a great many). He has never hidden the fact that, in effect, The Donald, is up for sale.
So let’s follow how this spoiler threat from The Donald will actually unfold. The first thing we must take into account is that one of The Donald’s modus operandi is that he will do everything and anything to avoid spending his own money. And there is a reason for this: In the universe of people who have lots of money The Donald is a piker, protestations to the contrary. As we all know running for the office of the President of the United States requires lots of money. President Obama says he needs a 1 billion for starters. If the The Donald is going to run for President as a third party candidate he’s not going to get his money from any Republicans, that’s for sure. Independents aren’t known to make campaign contributions unless they are committed. And I don’t see Independents committed to the likes of the The Donald. So the only viable place for The Donald to find lots of money is among Democrats who see in the The Donald the true spoiler that he is. “Hello, George Soros speaking. Yes Donald how are you.”
On The Border
Over this Memorial Day weekend I had my first chance to digest the liberal Jewish defense of President Obama’s recent position on the Israeli-Palestinian peace initiative. It starts with their belief that Israel is doomed.
It was approximately 2 weeks ago that President Obama stated in a speech at the State Department “We believe that the borders of Israel and Palestine should be based on the 1967 lines with mutually agreed swaps so secure and recognized borders are established for both states.” This one line from a speech that most Americans were in agreement induced anger and concern both in Israel and the U.S. A bi-partisan Congress welcomed Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel who gave a rousing speech in Israel’s defense. President Obama’s statement concerning Israel’s return to its 1967 borders created a bright line between those American Jews who continue to support President Obama and who constitute an overwhelming majority and those Jews who see in this President a person who has no intention of maintaining America’s historical support for Israel his soaring rhetoric to the contrary notwithstanding.
In warfare, the greatest enemy of victory is wishful thinking. And if there is any criticism to which President Obama is vulnerable, giving him the benefit of good faith, it is just that. Truth be told many military strategists contend that the current borders of Israel are less defensible than those of 1967. Moreover as long as Israel depends upon the U.S. or any third party country for its defense it will always be insecure. The liberal Jewish view of Israel is unacceptable because it assumes that Israel is not a viable nation no matter what its borders. And for those Jews that accept Israel’s existence based on the assumption that Israel will always have the U.S. prepared to rush munitions to the battlefield or help create costly sophisticated missile defense systems is simply wishful thinking. The time has come for Israel and its people to address the realities of existence. Defend yourself.
Who Will Save The U.S. Economy if We Don’t?

It is a given that China and India, each with a population of over a billion are the strongest economic competitors to the United States. The current strategies of both the Democratic and Republican Parties to this challenge will lead to failure.
This is Roger Madon and this is what I think.
It is obvious that the adoption of Socialism by the Democratic Party as a viable economic system for the purpose of opposing the economies of China and India is nothing short of boneheaded. But the Republican Party’s political strategy with respect to illegal immigration on our southern border will be both politically catastrophic for the Republican Party and equally economically boneheaded for the United States.
The Republican leadership has decided to not only beat the Democratic juggernaut currently sailing in Congressional waters but to crush it by taking control of the House of Representatives in the Congressional election this coming November. Enter therefore the illegal immigration debate. Democrats however have set a trap for Republicans the result of which will make the Republican Party a minority party for generations to come. The reason is simple: Hispanics today constitute nearly 20 percent of the electorate. Therefore no political party in America can survive without taking that fact into its demographic calculation. Democrats have, Republicans are clueless.
But more importantly solving our southern border problem, and with Mexico in particular, with its vast population of over 100 million hard working people who share the same values as Americans and incorporating it into our economic system would be the first step in addressing the economic challenges of China and India.
So here is what we have: A Democratic Party adopting an economic system that the entire free world rejects as a failure and a Republican Party adopting a political strategy that is stupid and the result of which rejects an extraordinary economic opportunity to meet the economic challenges of China and India.

Israel’s Conflict at Sea
Filed under: International Reflections, International War, Terrorism
Recap of situation on Mavi Marmara:
- 6 Turkish ferries traveled to Israel to provide humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza
- Those controlling the ferries made public announcements beforehand, including on Al Jazeera, that they were determined to break the Israeli blockade
- Israelis gave the ferries the option to dock at the port of Ashdod to transfer cargo to trucks and in order to verify no contraband present
- Ferry occupants resisted and shouted ‘jihad, jihad, jihad’ which prompted the Israelis to take protective action
- Israelis searched the first 5 ferries without incident, but met resistance upon approaching the 6th
- The occupants attempted to take down a Israeli helicopter and pummeled navy troops as they boarded
- After these incidents and the removal of the navy personals’ rifles (loaded with blanks), in defense, the Israelis used there loaded pistols
- As with dealing with cops, you don’t argue with military and the law by battling head on. If those on the ferries believed that the blockade was illegal, they should have dealt with legally in court.
- As a result, 9 ferry passengers died
Opinion and Observation
- Israel was set up. They could have seen it coming
- The Palestinian people live in a purposefully oppressive government that fuels hatred between their people and Israel
- The relationship between Israel and Turkey is crumbling as the Turkish government is run by an Islamist and they assist Iran with its nuclear ambitions
- Israel may never be recognized as a nation and the fact is they are hated because they are jews
- America’s relationship with Israel is unraveling as Obama continues to deal with Iran’s nuclear ambition with diplomacy and containment
- The way to deal with Iran has failed for over 30 years and this method will fail as well
- Israel realizes all of this and will defend itself accordingly
- The world needs to understand and accept that Israel will defend itself and has an understandable right to do so.
- These conflicts have no end in sight
Further Comments
- Obama’s administration is testing the survival of the United States
- If Iran gets the bomb, the potential disaster will dwarf the tragedy of 9 people dead on a ferry
- This is just one more example of a failed administration that is leading us to insecurity and bankruptcy
- 20 trillion dollars of debt is due to be paid by America by 2020
- The situation in Greece and Spain is a foreshadow of the reality of this country as we head further into socialism
- I am unsure if we will ever recover from any of these policies

Obama’s ethnic thugery immigration policy reaction
Filed under: Immigration, International Reflections, National Party Politics, Presidential Watch
Last week Republican Governor Jan Brewer of Arizona signed into law a tough immigration statute making illegal immigration a State crime and requiring police to question people about their immigration status if they suspect they are in the U.S. illegally. President Obama jumped into this 2010 election wedge issue and howled that it was a civil rights violation for Arizonans to protect themselves from violent crime.
This is Roger Madon and this is what I think.
Finally the President after 15 months of finding himself on the wrong side of the majority of the American people by supporting Tarp legislation, the Stimulus Bill, the Health Care Reform Act, Cap and Trade and the Financial Reform Act he now thinks that he has an issue that will drive a wedge between voting Americans. He believes that wedge issue is between those Americans who argue that the Federal government is just plain refusing to address the serious violent crime committed by illegals who cross the Mexican/American border and adversely affect the border states of California, Nevada, Texas, Florida of course Arizona and the American Hispanic Community which reacts viscerally to any legislation which attempts to keep Hispanics out of the country raising the fear of prejudice and results in a sense of isolation.
The President could easily have avoided this dispute, however by stepping into it he reveals once again his political roots: Chicago ethnic thugery. Is this too harsh? Our Constitution provides that the Presidency represents all the American people as a nation and to keep them safe from harm. It seems President Obama has abandoned that Constitutional responsibility for the mundane prize of keeping the control of Congress in the hands of the Democratic Party. And for him if it means getting Americans to see the immigration dispute as one which divides them well that’s just standard operating procedure for Chicago ward politics.
This is Roger Madon and that‘s what I think.
Immigration with Special Guest – Robert Hornak

Highlights from my conversation with Robert Hornack.
In this episode Roger discusses immigration policy improvements with Robert Hornack.
We’ll be back to 4.5% unemployment after the Barack Obama Presidency.
Robert suggests a complete overhaul of current immigration policies.
The current system encourages people to break the law.
Robert supports no more public assistance for non-working immigrants.
The Democrats want to give assistance to everyone legal and illegal immigrants alike.
500,000 immigrants are coming to the U.S. every year.
Reagan’s policy didn’t think forward, it only thought backwards.
Roger asks, “Is it possible that this is about racism?”
Racism is not only from conservatives, you’ll find it on Daily KOS and Move On.org
The left is happy to let these people sit in the undocumented state because they use them for political leverage.
Roger asks, “What do we can do to begin to get our conservative friends to turn around on this?”
Robert: There are many conservatives in this camp. We need comprehensive reform not small steps.
Roger: “There is no great vision of America in Obama’s plan.”
Robert: Barack Obama is the first social justice President, he has a disdain for the rich, he believes they have used unfair advantages to accumulate their wealth. Obama wants to take as much as he can from the upper class and give it to the middle class.
Roger: During FDR’s term the tax rate for the rich was 92%.
